I intended to document everything involved in turning a basic CRX into a CSP autocrosser, but I didn't take any "before" pictures and by the time I thought about it again I was about half way done. Oh well, better late then never I guess. Here's what had been done before I started trying to document the process somewhat. Old 1.5L engine and tranny was pulled and donated to a friend so he could put the 5-sp tranny in this car. The DX engine wiring harness was completely overhauled to work with Si engine. The chassis wiring harness was altered to work with the Si ECU. This was a huge job but the end result looks like it came from the factory that way. The LH door and front fender were removed since they will be replaced by those components from the Si since they're in better condition. The front bumper was removed. The entire subframe including the steering rack was swapped over from the Si. The front knuckles received new wheel bearings and lower ball joints. A new brake master cylinder with a slightly larger piston diameter (should improve pedal feel) has been installed. Another area I spent a fair amount of effort on was the repair of the drivers seat. The drivers seat in my Si chassis was in pretty good shape except the foam in the LH side bolster. The foam had broken down from wear because it gets smushed every time you get in or out of the car, and it gets hammered by UV rays from the sun through the door window. The passenger seat from the DX was in good shape on the LH side so I took it apart, split the seat foam down the middle, did the same with the foam from the Si, put the two good halves together on the seat frame and reinstalled the cover and it is good as new. 01/02/04 - Cleaning the underside. 01/10/04 - Rear sway bar brackets fabrication. 01/11/04 - Shifter mod. 01/18/04 - Rear suspension final assembly and engine installation. 02/01/04 - Brake prop valve and thermostat housing adventure 02/08/04 - Shiny parts go on the engine!
