My search for another chassis turned up this '89 base model Civic. It doesn't get much more base than this. No A/C, 4-spd transmission, 1.5L, etc. Just your basic car. I loved it though because it was so light. This car also had another nice feature, it actually ran.

The idea was to pull the good stuff off of the CRX and put it in the Civic and run it in STS. At the time the STS rules allowed the engine swap like SP has and I had most of the ingredients to make a good car. However, just about the time I was ready to start swapping stuff over, the rumors of eliminating the update/backdate rules for STS started circling so I put the project on hold. I fixed the car up a little and added A/C but shortly after that the rumors were confirmed and the rules were changed, which left me with an uncompetitive car.

I gave some thought to building up a 1.8L turbo motor for the car and running Street Mod, but that was going to cost more than I could afford so it didn't happen. Ultimatly I sold the car to a friend who needed a reliable car that gets good mileage. It's going to be one of those Hondas that will last 500K miles or more, I just know it.
